Coming from Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, they were built in Manresa at the end of the 19th century
The Technical Museum has received a deposit in the form of a commode, a loom and a presser, manufactured in Manresa, and from the Aranyó Steam of Santa Perpètua de Mogoda. The importance of these two machines lies in their origin and typology. The loom, built in Manresa by the workshop of Josep Obiols (“Children of Josep Obiols constructors“) in the middle of the 20th century, is a unique element of the stud, which was not available for any copies like this in the Museum . And the traitor, from the late nineteenth century, is also significant for its relationship with the water industry.
To these pieces they will be doing restoration work, waiting in the future, to incorporate them into the permanent exhibitions of the Museum of the Technique of Manresa.
The new project of community gardens is an opportunity to give continuity to the social function of the gardens of the Culla, opening them as a meeting place and community work in the neighborhood of la Balconada and transforming them into green orchards
Yesterday afternoon, the new project of the community gardens of La Culla was presented, in the Bonsai room in the neighborhood of La Balconada. He had the assistance of a fortnight of interested neighbors, who could hear how it will work and solve the doubts that arose as if the orchards can be shared.
The inscriptions can be made at Punt Òmnia or the Community Plan of la Balconada since yesterday and until September 15, except during the month of August. Those interested can call 93 106 11 33. In October, the first community training and work will be done to enter the orchards in November.
The project arises from a triple need. On the one hand, the desire to open up the management of the land used in the gardens of the Culla, on the other, of the need for spaces of social and community cohesion in the Balconies and finally the desire to improve orchards and transform them, them in green orchards. The project is being developed since the fall of 2018 between those responsible for the Community Development Plan of la Balconada (from the City Council of Manresa), the Punt Òmnia de la Balconada and the people from the Aigües de Manresa – Junta de la Sèquia Foundation that is in the Casa de la Culla.
The project maintains the function of urban gardens of familiar use to the population near the Culla and gives them new functions. On the one hand they will be focused on the diversity of neighborhood profiles, with a clear intention of inclusion and social cohesion. And on the other, there will be areas for training and activities around the horticultural sector in the neighborhood population as a whole (beyond that they have an orchard in La Culla). In addition, the project wants to maintain a dynamic of mutual support through assemblies and spaces for decision and joint conflict resolution.
